On Saturday evening at Kokomo's Memorial Gymnasium, the Lady Mavs walked away with a 4A Sectional #7 Championship beating Harrison by the score of 51-49. In the first quarter, the Lady Mavs jumped out to an early lead because of some hot shooting by Soph Braelyn Williams, Fr Lillie Graves and Soph Chloe Finney, all having made 3s in the period. The Lady Mavs entered the second quarter with a 20-6 lead, but the Raiders would come out and have a run of their own and win the second quarter scoring 13-11. At the half, the Lady Mavs were up 12 points on the Lady Raiders, but the third quarter for the second game in a row seemed to give the offense some issues and only managed 7 points. Heading into the final quarter, the Lady Mavs were able to hang on and win with solid rebounding from Jr Kalea Washington (finished with 15 for the game) and some clutch free throws with under a minute left in the game. We will be headed to Marion High School for Regional action with a 1pm tip. We will play the Homestead Spartans for a chance at Semi-state. The Lady Mavs improve their season record to 21-4. The team wanted to thank the fans, students, and ESPECIALLY the cheerleaders for making the trip and supporting the team. Please come and support this group on Saturday. Stats Fr.
