The boys' cross country team turned in a fabulous performance this weekend at the North Central Conference Championship by defending their 2016 championship. The Mavericks outran runner up Harrison by a score of 30-40. Five Mavericks finished in the top ten, earning All-Conference honors. They were seniors Will Persin, who repeated as the individual champion, Caleb Whitlock, Dylan Linder, Jake Ruble, and sophomore Josh Persin. Freshman Damian Sanchez and sophomore Kieran Garing ran well also.
The JV dominated their race, placing seven runners in the top 15. Sophomore Luke Milsaps took first, with junior Kaiden Jordan, senior Jordan Fields, sophomore Gavin Ford, junior Tyler Brubaker, senior Kyle Howard, and freshman Caleb Abernathy following close behind.
In all, 19 runners ran personal best times on Saturday.
