Senior Zayne Newgent will continue his baseball career at Manchester University. The right-handed hitting infielder/outfielder finished his junior campaign with a .314 batting average while driving in 12 runs and scoring 8. The Spartans are members of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. They finished the 2025 campaign with a 29-14 record overall and earned a bid to the NCAA tournament. Newgent is the fifth Maverick to commit in the class of 2026 joining teammates Reed Grimes (Grace), Jonathan Riley (Toledo), Sammy Swank (Kentucky) and Jake Winger (Indiana).
