The Mavs (12-1) suffered their first defeat of the 2024 campaign Saturday on the campus of Purdue Northwest. A 2-out, 2-RBI triple by Logan Marsell got the Mavs on the board in the top of the third making it a 3-2 contest. Wyatt Vaughn then followed with two scoreless innings on the mound to keep the score the same through four innings. The bottom of the fifth proved pivotal as Hanover Central scored six runs with two outs to break the game open and claim a 9-2 lead. The Mavs scored a single run in the top of the sixth on a RBI groundout by Aiden Riser to score Sammy Swank who had tripled. The Mavs scored two runs in the top of the seventh highlighted by a RBI double by Jonathan Riley and a RBI single by Jake Winger. The Mavs return to action at home on Monday as they welcome the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos to the Mav Baseball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
