The Mavs (13-1) returned to the win column on a wet Monday night at Loeb Stadium. The designated home team on the scoreboard, the Mavs jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning. A well executed drag bunt by Riley Sands and a walk to Jake Winger got the inning started for the Mavs. Sands and courtesy runner, Aiden Earley, executed a double steal before a wild pitch scored Sands. Jonathan Riley worked a 0-2 count back to 3-2 before doubling to the left field wall which scored Earley. The Mavs would also add two runs in the third and sixth and a single run in the fifth. Sands finished with two hits and scored three times while Riley added a second RBI on a sacrifice fly. Sammy Swank had two hits on the night. Winger, RJ Morrison and Mekyel Almond combined on the shutout. Winger (2-0) picked up the win with five strong innings that saw him strikeout five while walking just two. The Mavs finish the series with the Bronchos on Tuesday. The game will once again take place at Loeb Stadium with a 6:00 pm first pitch.
